Ashbera Season I 50 Pieces  ·  No Reissue Baikal Atelier, Manhattan Under Embargo
01  /  The House

Ashbera makes
one thing.

A cabin carrier for the dog that travels with you — conceived as a personal object, not a category product. Built by hand in Manhattan. Absent from retail. Distributed in an edition of fifty.

The Founder Edition is the first work of the house. Its architecture is the result of a single discipline: nothing is compromised to make the object easier to manufacture, cheaper to produce, or simpler to explain. Every decision documented in these pages exists because it was the correct decision — not the convenient one.

Assembly takes place at Baikal Atelier, 47th Street, Manhattan. Each piece is hand-stitched, sequentially numbered, and issued with a Founder Key — a solid brass identifier bearing the piece's number within the edition.

Each component
is specified
without compromise.

The material selection for the Founder's Edition was governed by a single criterion: each component must perform correctly and age correctly. No substitutions are authorised at any point in the production run.

Main body Structured herringbone tweed canvas — beige — natural weight
Base & trim Full-grain camel leather, vegetable-tanned — all edges hand-burnished
Hardware PVD Gold Satin solid brass — all components, no exceptions. No chrome. No polished finishes.
Zippers YKK Excella or Riri — water-resistant construction, matte finish. Polyurethane-coated zippers strictly prohibited.
Ventilation mesh Phifertex architectural mesh — Almond colorway — 35% openness coefficient
Interior lining Full microfiber suede — tone-on-tone with canvas — zero gaps, full coverage required

04  /  Engineering Decisions

Five decisions that
define the object.

The Founder Edition contains no feature added for visual effect. Each technical decision below exists because it was the structurally correct solution. Several required custom engineering — there was no off-the-shelf component that met the specification.

I
Three-Point Magnetic Architecture
The front flap operates on three distinct magnetic modes. In closed position, four N42 neodymium magnets concealed within the leather window frame engage with passive steel targets embedded in the flap corners — a firm, clean hold with no visible mechanism. In open position, the rolled flap parks hands-free against two N52 directional cup magnets positioned at the panel crown. A 1–2mm textile micro-buffer separates each N52 magnet from the exterior canvas, preventing cumulative surface wear.

II
Concealed Awning Ventilation
Ventilation is continuous and passive. Each gusset carries a 5.5 × 5.5-inch Phifertex window at 35% openness. An additional ventilation strip runs along the crown of each side panel, tucked behind a 0.60-inch overlapping canvas lip. This lip geometry replicates an architectural awning: air circulates continuously through the gap, while rain cannot enter through direct downward pressure. The strip is invisible from direct lateral view.
Dual gusset ventilation  ·  Phifertex Almond 35%  ·  Concealed awning strip  ·  0.60″ canvas overhang
III
Rigid Trolley Architecture
Rear-facing mobility integration is achieved via an 11.5-inch universal aperture, precision-engineered to accommodate dual-tube telescoping systems from global luxury travel houses. The structure incorporates an internal rigid reinforcement frame, ensuring absolute geometry retention under load. In independent transit, the sleeve remains architecturally neutral — a clean, flush surface with zero visible elasticity.
Clear opening: 11.5″  ·  Height: 4.3″  ·  Zero-elastic construction  ·  Internal rigid stiffener
IV
Full Microfiber Suede Interior
The volumetric interior is fully enveloped in high-density microfiber suede, ensuring total chromatic continuity with the primary canvas. Construction is seamless: 100% surface coverage with zero material compromise. Beyond its tactile quality, the lining provides a structural, non-abrasive shield for integrated hardware and glass surfaces. The House insignia is executed via blind-deboss heat pressure — monochromatic and foil-free — revealed only through shadow and tactile refraction.
Full cavity coverage  ·  Colour-matched suede  ·  Blind deboss logo — no foil — strict requirement
V
Removable Safety Tether
A 9.0-inch internal security tether in full-grain tan leather — all edges hand-burnished — is secured to a structural D-ring anchored directly into the primary reinforcement frame, independent of the lining. The tether is fully modular and removable, allowing the vessel to transition into a singular daily silhouette. Dual 360° swivel snap hooks eliminate torsion during transit. The anchor point is engineered to withstand high-velocity directional tension.
9.0″ finished length  ·  ×2 PVD swivel snap hooks  ·  Structural D-ring anchor  ·  Fully removable
VI
Back Panel Proportional System
Rear panel verticality is governed by a strict mathematical ratio. Upper canvas zone: 2.15” (19.5%). Integrated mobility sleeve: 4.30” (39.1%). Lower canvas zone: 2.15” (19.5%). Leather base architecture: 2.40” (21.8%). The symmetry of the canvas zones ensures visual tranquility. No single vertical element exceeds 40% of the total panel elevation, maintaining an architecturally resolved silhouette across all mobility contexts.
Upper canvas zone 19.5%  ·  Sleeve 39.1%  ·  Lower canvas 19.5%  ·  Base band 21.8%
05  /  Interior Construction
Baikal — interior

The interior is designed to function as a personal carrying system, not as a pet enclosure.

The owner's essentials travel within the carrier alongside the animal — separated by function, unified by material. The interior zip pocket (9.6-inch opening, 7.0-inch minimum depth) holds pet passport, veterinary identification, and travel documents flat. The open pocket below spans the full interior width at 11.0 inches.

The hygiene floor is a removable tray-wrap: a rigid board wrapped seamlessly in waterproof nylon, no visible seam on the top surface, no quilting. It lifts out for cleaning without tools.

Logo application Blind deboss, heat stamp — tone-on-tone, no foil, no colour contrast
Zip pocket opening 9.6″ — designed for: pet passport, veterinary ID, phone, flat documents
Open pocket 11.0″ wide × 6.0″ drop
Hygiene floor Removable tray-wrap — rigid board, waterproof nylon wrap — no seam visible on face
Interior vent window Leather frame visible width 0.50″ — R = 0.40″ corner radius — same finish as exterior
Safety tether anchor Structural D-ring — anchored into the vessel’s primary reinforcement frame

& trolley sleeve.

The back zip pocket (10.6-inch opening, 6.3-inch depth) is designed for an iPad mini, passport, and flat documents. The zipper line must remain geometrically straight when closed — zero curve or deflection is tolerated.

The trolley sleeve sits above the base band, mathematically centred with identical canvas zones above and below. It requires no handle adjustment on any of the major luggage systems it was engineered to accommodate.

Back pocket opening 10.6″ — designed for: iPad mini, passport, phone, flat documents
Back pocket depth 6.3″
Trolley sleeve opening 11.5″ clear width
Sleeve construction Zero-elastic canvas, internal rigid stiffener — flat under all load conditions
